«Western Union» es una canción de 1967 de la banda de rock estadounidense «Five Americans». El sencillo alcanzó el puesto número 5 en el Billboard Hot 100 en abril de 1967. También alcanzó el número 7 en la lista Cash Box Top 100 Singles ese mismo mes.
Orígenes
En una entrevista de marzo de 1967 que apareció en la columna «Top Tunes» de Michael Oberman en el periódico Evening Star (Washington, DC), Norman Ezell, guitarrista del grupo, explicó cómo se les ocurrió «Western Union». «Mike Rabon, nuestro guitarrista principal, estaba jugando con su guitarra cuando se le ocurrió un sonido único», dijo Norman. “En cierto modo nos recordó a una tecla de telégrafo. Fue entonces cuando decidimos escribir ‘Western Union’. ¹
